About the song

We don't really think Emmeli de Forest was terribly sad when she sang her Only teardrops. Because she won the 2013 Eurovision song contest for Denmark with it! The contest was held in Malmö, Sweden (as Swedish artist Loreen won the previous year's contest with Euphoria), which was of course special to Emmeli who has a Danish mother and Swedish father.

The winning song is a beautiful song and well worth a listen. Other interesting facts that you may not know about the 2013 Eurovision song contest is that Björn & Benny (of ABBA fame) wrote the opening act (which was performed by Avicii), and that the Ukranian performed was carried onto the stage by Igor Vovkovinskiy, who was the tallest person living in the United States at that time. Now you know, in case there is some really obscure bar trivia questions in your future.
