About the song
Daði Freyr was set to represent Iceland in the 2020 Eurovision song contest together with his band "Gagnamagnið", which is Icelandic for "data plan" and consists of him, his wife, his sister, and three good friends. You can't really miss them, because they all wear teal sweaters with their own pixelated faces on them, and Daði is a neat 2.08 meters tall and has a surprisingly deep voice. They also had really cool, and weird home-made instruments. So far, it sounds like peak Eurovision and they were indeed among the favorites to win with the song Think About Things, written about Daði's new daughter.
Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic cancelled the 2020 song contest, so Daði had to wait a full year to compete, this time with with the song 10 Years (about his relationship with his wife). But on the day of the semifinal, disaster struck again as one of the band members tested positive for Covid. So, they had to remain isolated in their hotel while the pre-recorded segment from the dress rehearsal was shown during the contest final. In the end, they finished 4th. But their delightfully and unapologetically nerdy performances did win many peoples hearts!
