Well, Malmö was as far south as I could go, so it was time to head back north! I continued along the coast for a while and stopped in Kalmar to see the castle before turning inland. I made a quick visit to Vimmerby to see the home of Astrid Lindgren and visit with Pippi and her friends, too!
Finally taking a break here in Mjölby. I found a most fascinating oddity here, which is the world's largest roundabout (traffic circle) potato!
It was installed in 2011 and every year the municipality dresses it in a different costume for the Christmas holidays; sometimes it's been made of gingerbread and other times as a pig. A lot of people think it's a fun bit of artwork to have, and it's seen by many since it's so close to the highway. The potato is supposed to symbolize the importance of potatoes to the area and also how much farming and food industry there is.
Anyway, I think potatoes are neat, so I found a pattern for an amigurumi potato!
Cheers,
